What’s on your mind?
I have a lot of things on my mind lately. Like many people these days, I’m worried about the future. I think about all the things that are happening in the world and where we’re going. I’m hopeful that for humanity we will choose to come together and collaborate for the greater good and for the younger generations, and that we won’t take too long to figure it out.
What motivates you to get moving every day?
My motivation comes from my kids. I want to be my best self, the healthiest I can be in order to be the best parent that I can for them. And I think about my grandkids too. I guess that’s because I’m a long-term planner! My faith also gives me inspiration and encouragement to strive to be a better person day by day and contribute to the betterment of my community in any way I can.
What keeps you sane in all the madness?
I am always trying to improve my physical and mental health. I exercise. I pray, meditate, practice mindfulness and breathing exercises on a regular basis. I also enjoy spending time with my family and close friends. Last year we adopted two stray cats and they have been a surprising source of happiness to me. I never grew up with pets, so it’s been a wonderful experience for me – one that I think contributes to my overall well-being.
What’s your favorite thing about Beijing?
I love the hustle and bustle of the city. I like the opportunities for new experiences. I enjoy meeting new and interesting people, and discovering new places. I am fascinated by the history of this city. I love that Beijing offers a unique blend of modern and traditional China. It’s amazing to see those two elements blend harmoniously into one great metropolis. I’m grateful to have called Beijing my home for over 14 years.
